About Us

Cameron Presbyterian Church - Cameron, NCCameron Presbyterian Church is a friendly, welcoming church that has a rich history and a special place in the lovely community of Cameron, North Carolina.  We are located in Moore County, NC, a place known for its hospitality, recreation, golf courses, and exceptional medical facilities.  Here is a brief excerpt taken from our archives.

“The congregation of Cameron Presbyterian Church met on April 18, 1879, at the Fayetteville Presbytery held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, submitting their petition signed by fifty citizens of the thriving railroad Town of Cameron, N.C. located on the Raleigh & Augusta Air Line Railroad dated April 1, 1879.

Union Presbyterian Church is considered the mother church since eleven of the twenty-five charter members came from her. Cypress, Cheraw, Buffalo, and Carthage Presbyterian Churches contributed to the remaining charter members.

Cameron Male & Female Academy, a classical school taught by Principals Daniel McIntyre (a high-toned Christian gentleman and scholar, and a teacher of large experience, well known in the counties of Moore (including 3/4 of present Lee), Harnett and Richmond also a Ruling Elder served as first Clerk of the Session of Cameron Presbyterian Church) and wife, Anna Jane McLean McIntyre “Annie” (daughter of General Alexander Duncan McLean of the Tirza Presbyterian Church community at Summerville, Harnett County, N.C. and she died on August 6, 1879) built a one-room frame building serving nearly fifty pupils located behind Cameron Presbyterian Church in 1876 where the Britton family plot is located.

Miss. Mollie Pegram (a young lady of fine mental culture and eminently qualified for successful teaching) of Harnett County, N.C. assisted in the literary department, and Miss. Flora McIntyre (daughter of the principals, well qualified by education and careful training to successfully fill either department, literary or music) assisted in the music department in 1878.

Roy Wallace of Cameron, N.C. submitted this vintage photograph for use in my book, “When Things Were Simple in the Town of Cameron, N.C.” (Volume II / 1910-1988), appearing on Page No. 65.”

Our Mission Statement

Cameron Presbyterian Church is a welcoming community of faith.  We are children of God who are faithful to scripture, but we embrace those who may still be in search of their own paths.  Many of our members have come from other Christian backgrounds and, in some cases, have been lost to faith for many years.

We share divergent views, including both liberal and conservative attitudes toward theology.  Our strong sense of commitment to each other as a church family has enabled us to create a sense of cohesiveness in a world of discord.  We are first and foremost a Community of Faith.

We have an awareness, through our faith and experience, that God expects us to care for others.  We are ever-watchful of the needs of our members as well as others within our community.  We seek to be good shepherds with regular mission work both within our community and without.  It does not take long for anyone witnessing the work of our congregation to realize that we are children of Christ who follow His lead in caring for others and putting this into practice.
