How would you describe the congregation’s/organization’s specific vision for ministry? How will this vision impact the community? Is the congregation part of a ministry vision or program?

Our mission statement describes our congregation as a “WelcomingCommunity of Faith.” We are children of God who are faithful to scripture but embrace those who may still be in search of their own paths. Many of our members have come from other Christian backgrounds and, in some cases, have been lost to faith for many years. We share a divergence of views, which includes both liberal and conservative attitudes toward theology. Our strong sense of commitment to each other as a church family has enabled us to create a sense of cohesiveness in a world of discord. We are, first and foremost, a Community of Faith. We are a typical, small-town Presbyterian Church with a long history. We are located in Moore County, known for its hospitality, recreation, golf courses, and exceptional medical facilities. As a result, our church is a welcoming haven for those in search of a new church family and community in a beautiful, quaint setting. We have an awareness, through our faith and experience, that God expects us to care for others. We are ever watchful of the needs of our members as well as others within our community. We seek to be good shepherds with regular mission work both within our community and without. It does not take long for anyone witnessing the work of our congregation to realize that we are children of Christ who follow His lead in caring for others and putting this into practice.

What is the nature and context of the community in which your congregation lives out its mission/vision? How will you address the emerging needs that are impacting your community?

In response to feedback from our congregation, we envision fulfilling our mission by attracting and inspiring through worship, serving faithfully in our mission, and expanding our programs. Our church serves Christ through traditional Sunday worship services. Our congregation is friendly, caring, and welcoming. The Spirit motivates our elders, and all have strong committees that keep the church members inspired. Members are actively involved in the community, committed to missions, and proud of our exceptional music ministry. Through the leadership of our music director, the congregation enjoys the joyful sounds of a full choir, which provides a variety of musical selections each week and performs two annual cantatas. Special performances are provided by the Memorial Hand Chimes, and community concerts are by visiting musicians. In an effort to ensure that all members are aware of ongoing and updated information, the church maintains a website, uses the “One Call Now” service, provides email communication, and publishes “The Link,” a newsletter that highlights special events, congregational news, and member updates. Our congregation supports local PCUSA. We help needy families, our local schools, and area residents. Our “Mission to Cameron” projects help our local community. We support our area food bank, give to the presbytery and church-wide offerings, and participate in ChurchWorld Service projects such as the CROP Walk and a “Blanket Tree.”

How will this call help complement the responsibilities of other staff/volunteer positions and the life of the congregation/organization so that you may accomplish your short-term and long-term ministry goals?

After conducting a congregational survey, we identified a number of key congregational priorities. We believe that in order to respond to these needs, the addition of a steady, consistent voice in the pulpit will provide the continuity and leadership needed to meet these priorities. Specifically, our pastor will have the opportunity to work with elders and members to:

1. Provide meaningful worship that is spiritually moving and inspirational
2. Provide quality pastoral care and visitation
3. Provide spiritual leadership
4. Help implement strategies for membership growth
5. Help develop plans for community outreach and inspire mission work
6. Help set forth a clear faith position as a guide for making decisions and living a faithful life

Provide a description of the skills, gifts, and training the person you hope will become a part of your ministry must have to lead the congregation toward the vision and mission established.

Cameron Presbyterian Church seeks a pastor who is a dedicated person of God, who accepts the Bible as the authoritative word of God and lives accordingly. Cameron Presbyterian Church is seeking a pastor who is outgoing and who can form and build meaningful relationships. In addition, we seek an individual with strong work and family ethics. Cameron Presbyterian Church needs a pastor with good communication skills that will span across all age levels in our church community. They need to be willing to visit the sick, shut-ins, and members who are not active.

What areas of ministry do you expect the person called to be responsible for? Share specific tasks, assignments, and programs.

Cameron Presbyterian Church seeks a pastor who is called by God to perform the duties we believe fall upon the minister of a traditional small town church. We believe pastoral care and church growth are important functions of the church and are the shared responsibilities of the members and the pastor. Our pastor must be a leader within our church and also at the Presbytery level. We would expect this person to lead and moderate theSession, support the work of our active committees, promote spiritual development, support mission work, and possess exceptional communication skills. Cameron Presbyterian Church is seeking a person with energy and enthusiasm who should be willing and able to relate to all ages as well as work hard to promote growth and program development to help us reach out in our community to bring others to faith. Although Cameron Presbyterian Church follows a traditional form of worship and theology, we are open to a Pastor with new and fresh ideas to enhance our worship and programs within the church. We seek someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and work to help serve God and to grow His church.
